Our school is situated in the heart of Kallithea, in a rather densely populated area of Athens. The standard of living for students is medium or low. The primary concern of the school is to attract and retain pupils' interest in school life and to encourage the children of the region to continue their studies. The modern educational approach is based on Positive Psychology and focuses on the strengths and virtues that empower individuals, societies and organizations to achieve. There are several programs that are developed extra to the followed curriculum such as environmental education, theatre, adolescent mental health, photography, music, reading, career path and arts. In collaboration with the parents committee, it is developed a solidarity network as well as a book club. In addition, seminars are organized for the management of issues during adolescence and internet safety. There have been conducted the following studies: friends social roles (2007-2008), pupils attitudes and perceptions about friendship (2008), the financial crisis and unemployment mental and emotional impact on pupils (2012 and 2014). Particularly important for our school is the acquisition of self-confidence, knowledge of lifestyle and education in partner countries, knowledge of native culture, strong bonds with students from partner schools, digital skills development, foreign language skills development, team work development, social skills development, interest in other countries and their cultures, motivation, tolerance with regard to different cultures. So that the acceptance of peers and the relationships created between them, are able to avoid extreme and unpleasant behaviors among students and to prevent bullying behaviors while educating students as active citizens who, in their adult lives, will respect the diversity of their fellow citizens. Through this project, we aim to attain improvement of school climate, development of openness and cooperation with schools from other countries, the stronger relationships between students and teachers, better team work among teachers, strengthening of the European dimension and its development and the increased support and involvement of family members in school life. These last years, a great attempt to upgrade the actual form of education is taking place in our country and this effort goes immediately with a change on the role of the teacher. Taking this in consideration our school aimed to help its teachers to face the new educational challenges. The key persons involved in this partnership are: Simou Panagiota (coordinator, contact person), Papantoni Maria, Voulgari Faye, Patsatzi Maria (with duties in terms of preparation, mobility and follow-up activities.) All these persons have Erasmus+ experience and are ready to share their experience with their European counterparts.
